Inspiration
On my last day of my "staycation," I'm chilling in my apartment reading Dan Brown's latest novel. I went outside a few hours ago and noted that it's quite beautiful out.. but I'm just going to ignore that fact. And off I go, dreaming, once again, about a career in art history where I will presumably discover lost works of art, learn about ancient symbolism and gain a better understanding about life by studying the past. And then the GRE's loom over me, $1,000 prep classes, months of studying, remembering high school MATH.. and then eventually I get back to my own reality. But then I see things like this and my excitement is reignited - a painting thought to be from the 19th Century is actually a Da Vinci!
Weekend Update
Wow, sorry I've been completely M.I.A. Here's a very quick update. Thursday and Friday I took off from work. Ended up being fairly productive. Went rollerblading. Saw the High Line and went to a super awesome Symphonics show at the Bowery Poetry club. Probably one of their best. Saturday I babysat in Brooklyn, then Sunday I went to a wine tasting in Upstate New York. Was tons of fun minus the port a potty experience but then again, we all had to endure it. Then Saturday night, if that wasn't enough, I danced hard core for a few hours at the Body & Soul party at Webster Hall with my new friend Natalie.
And in a few minutes.. I'm off to Grand Central, catching a train up to Breakneck Ridge where I'll be hiking and hopefully not breaking my neck! Pictures, videos, etc. to follow.
Happy Monday and Happy Columbus Day!
Boob Tube

I just had a large TV fall on my head. I swear. I'm not kidding. I really can't make this stuff up. I was removing my scanner from the unstable shelf that held the large TV that doesn't really work. It fell from the shelf, and literally rolled off my head and on to the floor. I'm okay folks. The TV did not break.. it bounced though. Yeah... what a way to start the first day of my "staycation."
Monday Awesomeness
Didn't really sleep that well at all last night. I love how the knowledge that I had to wake up around 6:15 stressed me out and prevented me from sleeping. Kind of counterproductive. During my 6 hours or less of sleep, I did manage to have a vivid, hopefully prophetic, dream. If you recall, a few weeks ago, I found a gold chain necklace at the 68th street subway platform... I dreamed I found another gold chain necklace and can't remember where I initially thought it came from. But then saw an old shoe laying around the room (not my apartment or house but you know how dreams are). I believe the shoe was from Target. The bottom lining of the shoe was coming off, and I pealed it away to find more beautiful gold necklaces. I believe 2-3. Then I had some sort of weird realization that someone in a far off place (where ever Target shoes are made) had tried to hide this jewelry in the lining of the shoes and they somehow made it into stores. So I have no idea how to interpret this dream or where to take it. Should I start designing shoes? Make sure I finally sell my gold chain? Is this a subtle reference to a long running joke between a friend and I - who once found money rolled up in a shoebox? Hmm.. perhaps I now know what I'll be doing on one of my days off.
In other news, I am awesome. I went to a Core Fusion class with my coworker this morning from 7am-8am! It feels sooo satisfying to wake up that early and already get a workout out of the way. I can go an unlimited number of times this week for $40. Otherwise, it's about $30 a class depending on how many you get at once. It's a mix of pilates and yoga. Awesomeness. And pain. I am Spartacus.
Happy Friday!
Note to self: Do not ignore sprained ankle and continue walking on it, hoping it will go away on its own. Last night, I walked a mile and a half to hang out with someone. I felt fine for the most part and used my walking time to consult my physical therapist friend. I could figure out when or how I injured myself. No.. I wasn't drinking last weekend (at least not on Saturday or Sunday night). This morning, as I was walking to the subway, I had to stop and do deep breathing exercises. And now, I'm sitting in my cube, awkwardly propping up my leg and icing my ankle, regretting my passive approach to the healing process. I bought an ace bandage the other day but haven't used it yet (real smart) and now it's sitting in my apartment.
Hopefully I will heal in time for wedding dancing tomorrow!
The Verdict
Most of my coworkers liked my hair.. except my boss who told me I look like a 12 year old. I'd probably have to agree with him. oh well.
Ponderings

I got new glasses last weekend and bangs today. I think I love the glasses. I was really set on getting tortoshell glasses like my old ones in my profile picture but the specs on the frames were too distracting. So I settled for a thick, black pair. The Lens Crafter guy seemed to know what he was talking about and hopefully wasn't just pointing me to the most expensive pair. Hello Prada! And hello coughing up $375 after insurance discounts, etc. but at least they'll last a few years. I went straight to the "bold" section and didn't even try some of the more discrete options. But now I'm starting to wonder..
On my way home I realized my bangs were getting out of control so I stopped by this salon right near my apartment. I think she cut them too short but they'll grow back. She gave me the hard sell. So apparently I need a new straightener ($150 - ca - ching), some $350 hair treatment that lasts a few months (r - i - g - h - t), golden highlights, a few low lights, and of course, I hair cut. I settled on a $36 pre-blow dry Kérastase leave in conditioner and took her card (self esteem still in tact). This, by the way, is the most I've ever spent on a hair product and is probably why my "frizz-tastic" hair has been called out by ex-boyfriends and coworkers alike. Hmmm. Anyway, here are some pictures of the end result, or something like that. Don't say I don't give you anything. I thought it would be a nice break from funny pet videos. Wow.. insert joke about funny pets and my hair here ---
And in other news.. I moved on from being obsessed with Mariah Carey's "Obsessed" song to Shakira's"Shewolf" and just recently Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind." Can one analyze song obsessions like one analyzes dreams? And if so, what the hell would "Shewolf" mean. What is a shewolf? I ponder........
Happy Monday!
I started this post on Friday morning..
ME FRIDAY MORNING: "This morning I nearly got run over by a mini van full of nuns. Seriously. I can't make this shit up."
COWORKER: "Well, if they hit you, you would have gone straight to heaven."
ME: "Damn it! That was the only chance I had."
In other news, Thursday night I attempted to kill 3 hours between work and an event that started in Tribeca at 9. I don't know why I didn't just go home first. I guess I felt I wouldn't have gone all the way downtown. I had a lovely time chillaxing in Washington Square Park, listening to relaxing music and laying on a marble slab, reliving my life downtown. Then I slowly walked down towards Soho with the intention of shopping but then got hungry. As I headed into Tribeca, I realized I was screwed in trying to find an affordable place to eat dinner. I passed Chipriani's where I may or may not have seen Eli Manning.. but definitely saw a crazy girl dancing.. see below. I ended up eating at a very cute Italian cafe/ restaurant full of regulars with affordable entrees. Since I was eating alone, I decided to go for it and have a glass of red - making it officially the first time I've eaten dinner and drank wine at a restaurant by myself in NYC. By the time I finished dinner, I was very ready to hit up the party and felt I had enough Molly time.
The Facebook sponsored Advertising Week wrap up party was okay. A decent group of coworkers showed up but other than that, it was fairly uneventful. This morning, I looked at my calendar and realized that after all that, I missed an event I originally planning on going to that fell between 6pm and 9pm. Such is life.

Midnight Happenings
Okay Mom. I should totally be sleeping right now but this one's for you. Just got back from another date with a super cool guy. Sorry kids. Can't be giving out the details but let's just say it's about freaking time I met someone who's on the same wavelength as me. You should hear how we met. Talk about how the universe works, etc. Maybe I'll tell ya'll some day.
I digress.
As I was walking home from our date around midnight, some guy on a bike said something to the effect of "girl, here's my number." And I sort of threw my head up or something in mock annoyance, and he said, "girl, don't give me that look. There's no reason we can't be friends." Then I thought I lost him but low and behold, he showed up in front of my apartment saying "I thought I lost you. Take my number (as he reads it allowed). I don't have a baby mama or anything."
Wow.. that's a new one. I'd like to note that out of my 3 1/2 years living in the East Village, I was never followed by anyone. The closest following was one guy who told me about his drug selling adventures but I think he was just walking to the subway, which was on the way. Aight, peace out playas. Time for me to hit the sack. P.S. I'm totally getting sick. I can feel it in my throat. Such terrible timing.
Happy Monday!
I promised my mom I'd update my blog soon but didn't really have time Sunday and then the internet went out. So I'm taking the easy way out for now and posting another animal video. I can't really post that much about my weekend because it involves men and dating. I know.. I know.. the good stuff. But let's just say life has been treating me well lately. Also went to a party with a new friend Saturday night and met some cool, artsy people.
Here's someone who's living the good life although I find the video generally unsatisfying. It needs a conclusion.. Like him walking away.

Happy Monday!
Holy crap! My Monday is off to a great start! I found this gold chain on the subway platform while waiting for the train. Thank god I have an eye for shiny things. It even perfectly matches today's outfit. What is the world trying to tell me? It's 14K gold and made in Italy. I also found the below earring last week but I doubt it's worth that much. There's something so special about found objects... I wear a crescent moon necklace with hematite rhinestones and an onyx moon nearly every other day that I found in Bryant Park. I get so many compliments on it and it seems to bring me good luck. And at the moment, I'm wearing a ring that used to be my grandmother's (I think) and earrings that used to be my other grandmother's. So much more special than going to my neighborhood Macy's and picking out my own jewelry.
Fashion Week
Remember back in February where I told you about my Fashion Week adventures? Yes, that's right. I made friends with a Norwegian model/ photographer and attended a party at the Rose Bar thrown by Justin Timberlake. I know.. I know.. it was all downhill from there. I kid. Actually, life has been pretty freaking good lately. Anyway, I just found Henneli's blog. She mentioned she was going to put together one in English but I never got around to looking it up until tonight. I kind of regret not photographing the tents this weekend. I boozed a bit too much last night and spent the time I should have been photographing, napping instead. Oh well. C'est la vie and the vie is good.
Inspirational Quotes
This post is the result of laziness and an attempt to organize my room. I had these typed up with the idea I was going to make some sort of collage.. but that never happened. So here it goes.
"Every master was once a disaster."
"If you are willing to do only what's easy, life will be hard. But if you are willing to do what's hard, life will be easy."
"If you keep doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always got."
Happy Friday!
I promise I'll eventually start writing legitimate posts again instead of uploading cat videos.. but until then.. This cat looks exactly like my former cat, China. aww.
