Kitten Pics

I'll take more glamour shots once I can clean the bugger's nose. But yeah, this one definitely has a personality. Still figuring out if it's a boy or a girl but according to some website, there's an 80% chance it's male since it's an orange tabby. I have a vet appointment either this afternoon or tomorrow morning. I just want to make sure it's healthy and eating the right food. Still hasn't entirely figured out the litter box but I now recognize the pee pee dance. Wow.. a dance only a mother would love. I've been hearing from more and more people that they had kittens as young as mine so I feel comforted knowing they turned out okay. It gets excited when it sees videos of other kittens and is even fascinated by it's own reflection. I feel bad that it obviously misses its brothers and sisters and I wonder if it will get lonely. Can I borrow Lola for a week? I feel like she'd make a good mother.

Kitten!!!

It's 10:40am on a Sunday and I haven't made coffee, haven't left my room or made breakfast mainly because this little one month old bugger gets separation anxiety.. So the story is, I got a KITTEN yesterday!!! A friend from high school posted these absolutely adorable photos exactly at the moment that I was starting to randomly feel slightly down. It was amazing. Her coworker's boyfriend's cat had kittens and brought this one into her work even though the kitten is obviously way too young. They said they got one of their cats at 1 month old and they haven't had any problems so I figured.. hey, why not. She (or he) will have a loving home! And here she is. Although I think it's probably a male kitten cause the orange ones usually are. I'm leaning towards Oscar (of course) if it's a male and Pippi if it's a female. Thoughts?

Smugger's Notch - All Together Now

Wow! I've been crazy busy this morning. Hellz yeah. I totally prefer running on adrenaline than being so bored that I need copious amounts of caffeine to stay awake. So I don't have time to give the play by play but a picture is worth a thousand words right? The highlights were that I'm apparently sort of a natural - only took a half hour lesson from my friend Mike who was kind enough to help us. But apparenently I'm dangerous to myself and others and I probably should have taken an official lesson and SLOWED DOWN. The weekend was about overcoming some fears. I still had to get myself into a happy place while on the very high two person lift even when I was sitting next to my boyfriend. Yeah, heights and I don't get along. Not a rational fear and I must have fallen to my death in a past life. I certainly fell on my ass about five times and lost a bit of confidence towards the third run.

I ate tons of junk food. My body is now made up of 60% Cheetos, Doritos and potato chips. The people I went with are super awesome. I had the opportunity to spend quality time with mostly everyone and it was lovely having some simple, wholesome fun like completing the hardest hologram puzzle known to man and playing bullshit. It was great to be on the road. I laughed so hard to a Dane Cook's stand up routine I had to stop myself from seriously crying and freaking out the three other guys in our car. And I think I've finally forgiven them for abandoning me during karaoke. And now.. for your viewing pleasure..

Good Morning!

In attempt to do my photography assignment in 20 degree weather Saturday, I headed to Grand Central, and got these.

Oooh, these could be so fun. I might have to do more especially once it gets warmer and people are dressed in coats other than black.

Photography Question

As per previous posts, I'm taking a portraiture class that seems challenging and thought provoking. We have to develop a long term portraiture project over the next ten weeks and I was thinking of comparing my new neighborhood (East 66th Street) to my old neighborhood (St. Mark's in the East Village). That might be a superficial project that doesn't push the limits of portraiture but I really love street photography. Here are some shots from Sunday. What do you think? Are they too much like The Sartorialist? Please, be honest. I love his site but I don't want my project to be about just fashion.

And meanwhile, this girl lives in Boston so she wouldn't exactly encompass a real Upper Eastsider.

Super Nice Couple. On Park and 66th.

The girl was excited because she has also taken classes at ICP.

I think overall, people were more friendly than in the East Village. Hmm.

And they're from Seattle.

Cool Photo Effect

Click on this link to my tumblr page please. My tumblr was an attempt to have a photography only blog but I've found it difficult to maintain a blog, Twitter page, and oh.. I don't know, I life! I don't think I can get a similar effect using Blogger.. but I guess it happened cause I moved positions but she stayed exactly where she was. Coolness.

I love. Love. Love. Street Photography. I love how you never know what you're going to get. Maybe I'm lazy or that it's just the perfect thing for my slight ADD and curiosity. Or as my boyfriend put it, I'm nosy. That's right. Nosy and curious..

Dawn of a New Day

Wow! Thank you so much for all of your comments! They really mean a lot to me especially since I had a significant amount of ups and downs last week. But today is a new day. And I'm trying to remind myself that. I think things are looking on the up and up. We all have shit that goes down, good days and bad. My coworker has gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to meeting quality men. And I have witnessed her pain and frustration. Last night, she saw and supported me through random bad shit. Just when I felt like I was at my lowest, life struck me another blow and I nearly lost my phone in cab. But unlike last summer, I got my phone back. My coworker found it in the cab and smartly emailed me right away. And I smartly checked my email right away. So all was not lost.

In fact, my mini tribulations pale in comparison to real issues. I found out some news about someone - a medical issue that they will absolutely get through. But it made me think about my own life and problems. The phrase, "at least you've still got your health" comes to mind. Life is hard enough as it is without crazy, unexpected illnesses. But then it seems like people who have gone through more unexpected pain are stronger, with a happier outlook on life. Hmm.

okay, on that note, I need to figure out my photography assignment. My thoughts are that I'm leading towards street photography because I feel that unplanned photos are more authentic portraits than sit downs (or at least that's what I'm drawn to). Now.. how to find subjects and photograph them in 15 degree weather!?

Seriously!!??

I spotted this woman wearing a trench coat and no stockings or boots this morning while on the way to work. Lady, it's 16 degrees!!!!!

In other news, I realize the freezing temperatures this weekend may make me reconsider my upcoming photography project. I'm drawn to street photography but not in 20 degree weather. Hmm.

Phew

Apparently it was really rainy, windy and miserable yesterday. I managed to miss that part (the windy part) since I didn't get out for lunch until around 1ish. Let's have a quick moment of silence for all the umbrellas that were lost.

Happy New Year! 2010

Wow! I guess I should add "Blog More" to one of my New Year's Resolutions. I've been focusing my time writing my novel. Yes, I said it. But I'm taking another photography class at ICP starting at the end of the month so you'll be entertained by plenty of my photos. It's a portraiture class so maybe I can even get some of my regular readers to pose for me. ehh.. Ehh.. In the mean time - Central Park at night.

Hello My Name Is Molly and I like to Make Draw-awings

Scarlett Johansson from a Dolce & Gabbana ad.
Natalie Portman from Marie Claire

I'm kind of out of practice with the drawing but it feels good and relaxing to attempt some sketches. I forgot that these two played sisters in the movie version of one of my favorite books. Yeah, drawing faces is hard. It's about getting the measurements for one particular feature that makes all the difference as to whether or not you've captured their essence. I wish I could commit to drawing other subjects like errr.. men, but drawing men just doesn't interest me as much. Plus I'm not likely to have men's magazines laying around.. obviously.

Solas Shot

I don't actually know these people but for some weird reason, I took their picture. I love their energy. It was at Solas, naturally. I dragged my boyfriend there (and some friends) for the second time. We walked in and headed to the bar, only to stop in our tracks as we saw a girl hurl into her hands. Classic. We both got a little tipsy and for some crazy reason, I allowed my boy to go on my Facebook without supervision. He proceeded to leave slightly embarrassing and misspelled wall posts on every friend he's met of mine - proof that he's sort of the male version of me. Or something like that. Good times.

Weekend Update

Have had some wonderful dates with the boy lately hence being m.i.a. as of late. Good food, good company, good wine and music - IZ all I need.

I took this photo on the way to one of my dates. I'm in love with the Canon s90.

Reading by the Streetlight

P.S. Despite liking the Upper East Side, I think I'm a downtown girl at heart. I've been spending time DT again but I think having to go all the way down, then back up makes me appreciate it more.
