A Brief History of Street Fashion Blogs
Aside from the crisp fall weather and chance to start afresh, one of my favorite things about September is the NY fashion shows. Every year, I try to photograph the fashionably dress characters who come in and out of the shows. This tradition has consistently come with its share of adventures.A few years ago, I endured the fridget February cold for the Fall shows, standing outside the DKNY show, secretly located in the West Village, and managed to capture this celebrity filled scene. Nearly three years later, these are still some of my favorite shots taken with my humble Canon 40D using the kit lens.
Later that evening, I stood outside the Marc Jacobs show, making friends with some of the other photographers who I had met earlier during the day. One of those photographers, Henneli, went on to become an international photographer / celebrity. I'm happy to say that I've recently found a few magazine articles and features on both her style and work. She's a model turned photographer and became known for her impecable style, not letting even the highest heels get in the way of her photography abilities. We bonded over our Norwegian heritage (she's actually Norwegian while I only inherited my last name and love of gravlaks). And she invited me to an exclusive party thrown by Justin Timberlake. It was definitely one of those "only in New York" type moments that reminded me why I love the city so much. If you keep an open mind, a smile and a sense of adventure, you never know where the day or night can take you.
Stay tuned for photos of my most recent mini adventure.
Fashion Week
Remember back in February where I told you about my Fashion Week adventures? Yes, that's right. I made friends with a Norwegian model/ photographer and attended a party at the Rose Bar thrown by Justin Timberlake. I know.. I know.. it was all downhill from there. I kid. Actually, life has been pretty freaking good lately. Anyway, I just found Henneli's blog. She mentioned she was going to put together one in English but I never got around to looking it up until tonight. I kind of regret not photographing the tents this weekend. I boozed a bit too much last night and spent the time I should have been photographing, napping instead. Oh well. C'est la vie and the vie is good.
JT
Only I would somehow find myself at a Justin Timberlake party wearing an over-sized H&M turtleneck, flat boots, my purple pants (of course), and a black, Gap tank top. More details tomorrow when I'm not so completely exhausted. Also managed to lose one of my favorite earrings in an effort to sex myself up by removing my turtle neck. But oh yeah, it was so worth it. Tear. Big Tear. I guess style trumps function when you're photographing these events, cause hey, you never know.
Other Favorite Shots
Just in case you're too lazy to go to my flickr page.

Even the babies are stylin. According to mom, it's from the Gap!
I love her colorful sleeve peeking out from her coat- Giovanna Battaglia a stylist.
And I'm in love with the deep black as they emerge from the show.
Check out her eyes. And for more pictures from that day - from a pro Garance Dore
Celebrities/ Former Models

Molly Sims - One of my favorite shots.
Milla Jovavich and her amazing eyes
The whole experience was very exciting. I got to see Scott Schuman from The Sartorialist in action as well as Garance Dore. It was tough trying to "make friends" with the models turned photographers but one was very nice. I guess the trick is trying to play it cool. Tonight I'm skipping my spinning class (gasp!) and the gym, to play paparazzo again at the Marc Jacobs show. Location secret. And then perhaps chilling outside a Cynthia Rowley party. Hopefully my hands will stay warm in the cold. yeah, so if you like my celebrity stalking approach, pass my link along and click on the ads. Baby needs a new camera. Like the 5D! I know. Craziness. I already want a new camera.
Many Faces Day 1- Part Two

They get their picture taken
They have piercing blue eyes and stunning red lipstick
They are happy
They play delightfully original and hysterically funny characters on TV. Thank you Mark Indelicato from Ugly Betty!
